Common WordPress Small Jobs

What kinds of Small Jobs Do Yo Want Done to Your WordPress Site?

Just checked our WordPress Support Management Console to see how many clients we have today.

It’s 53 – Yeah!

Not bad, but we need more and that rant is best saved for another post.  Something else caught my eye while I was looking at the numbers.  What was it?

Common WordPress Support Requests

I was surprised by the variety of WordPress Support Requests we’ve been getting.  I had initially thought that most of the requests would be from a group of common items like:

  • Install A WordPress Plugin
  • Install a WordPress Theme
  • Move my WordPress Blog…

But after going through this last month’s WordPress Support requests it looks like the WPBlogSupport.com clients are on the ball and looking to get the most out of their WordPress powered business.  How so?

Some of the WordPress Small Job requests we got included items like:

  • Install a Landing Page Plugin with A/B testing
  • Add specific testimonials to specific pages
  • Make sure my site is secure
  • Make sure my mobile visitors get those “Hamburger” menus when they visit our site.
  • Add Social Media Sharing Plugins to my Blog
  • Setup Yoast WP-SEO plugin correctly on my site
  • Add different display images when I post on social media
  • Add a default featured image to every post

Are these things that you’ve done to your WordPress Blog?   Should you?

As WordPress matures, it’s flexibility increases.  As that flexibility increases so does the potential for confusion especially for regular users who just want a WordPress site that works.

Make Your Own WordPress Small Jobs List

Whatever changes you might be considering for your site, ask yourself first.  What is the purpose of my Blog and does this change support that purpose?  If it does go for it.  If you need help getting it done, we’re here to help.

  1. Start with a generic list of small jobs that will help your WordPress site serve  your business goals.
  2. Add them to a timeline and in order of importance.
  3. Evaluate the potential impact on making those changes to the other parts of your business.
  4. Organize the potential changes as they relate to:  Functionality, Content, Look and Feel, Coolness
  5. Assign your generic list of tasks to one of the four categories
  6. Start implementing the functional changes first followed by the “Content”, “Look and Feel” and “Cool” changes
  7. Rinse and Repeat.

This is just a quick track I use to make sure I don’t get stuck with a “cool” WordPress site that doesn’t make any money.  Good luck and have fun – You can do it with WordPress!
