PHP and mySQL Software Updates
This weekend, September 10th and 11th we'll be upgrading our network of servers to the latest stable builds of PHP and mySQl.
You may be asking... What does this mean to me? Will it affect my WordPress Site or Sites?
The quick answer is yes it will affect you ONLY if we host your WordPress site. They upgrades require that each individual server (and your site) will be offline for approx. 30 minutes during the upgrade.
So we apologize for the downtime you experienced and any inconvenience this may cause. Our first priority is to provide you with the best Managed WordPress Hosting environment and this means keeping the software that runs your site secure and up to date. The Data Center technicians are performing the upgrades in the early morning and will get your server up and running as soon as possible so you experience as little down time as possible.
Will my site be the same after the upgrades?
This maintenance and upgrade of software may cause issues for clients who have had mature WordPress sites. the way mySQL ( the database WordPress uses) handles database passwords has changed and if you are started your Blog a number of years ago your site may experience additional downtime after the upgrade.
This is easily fixed by updating your database password which our support staff will gladly do for you.
We scheduled these updates during a time when it will impact the least amount of customers. If there is an issue or you have questions please open a ticket and we'll do our best to help you out.
